Exploring all the forms and textures the color blue can represent, from the sea to the sky, Into the Blue (for Marimba and French Horn) dazzles with soaring passages and darkens with a siren song from the depths. The interplay between the horn and marimba create many moments of melodic tension and release, as throughout the marimba carries the textures and tempos to the highs and lows of the instrument with sweeping arpeggiated passages. The last sounding Bb in the horn soars; the end of the work leaving the listener in silence.
